The rooms of the dollhouse are finished in multiple colors and different wallpapers and very little of the colors are too bright (or too pink – sometimes not a good thing).
It is big enough for two kids to play at the same time and has windows looking in from the sides as well.

The dollhouse and accessory pieces are well crafted and most of the set including the furniture are made from wood(excluding the staircase and bath). Here’s a list of some key features:
- Wooden construction and finely painted wood accessories – more durable than most plastic framed dollhouses
- Richly detailed wallpaper and painted furniture – all well crafted and the rooms are different colors and themes
- House is quite big – multiple children can play at once and kids won’t outgrow it too quick
- Some interactive features like garage doors than open and close, elevator that slides up and down and lots of furniture to re-arrange
- Comes with furniture but no dolls – but any medium sized dolls (up to about 12 inches) will not have to duck through doorways
Notes on Assembly
The Majestic Mansion Dollhouse comes well-packed and weighs about 60 pounds. The manual has step-by-step instructions in the form of pictures (a picture is apparently worth a thousand words) for putting it together. It is easy enough to follow though. There are about 30 steps to complete from start to finish.
Reckon on assembly taking roughly between 2 and 4 hours. Cut down on the assembly time (and work) by asking a spouse or friend to help you and set aside a morning or afternoon to do the dirty work. Some bits of the process go easier if you have a helping hand. It definitely needs two people to move it.
You will need a phillips screw driver. The house becomes ever sturdier as you get further along in the assembly – so don’t worry if at first it looks a little shaky. You can also use some wood glue if you are putting it up permanently in a playroom and want it sturdy to the max.
The screws for assembly are color coded. The little bed and piano needs to be put together – the rest of the furniture comes pre-assembled.
General notes regarding quality and safety
The dollhouse has great attention to detail overall and feels sturdy once assembled. The little furniture pieces are hand painted (all wooden except for one or two pieces). The dollhouse should last for years and years.
This is a large dollhouse.
The set comes with wall anchors to keep it from tipping over if the youngsters get too over-enthusiastic (i.e. if Barbie and friends party too hard). You can choose to use these anchors or not.
The little elevator sometimes gets stuck a bit. Lube the tracks with some WD40 to make it slide easier. Younger kids may not be able to reach the top floor – a step stool should give the added height (attention kids – mom’s high heels are not to be used for this).
The customer service from the manufacturer is generally very good – (i.e. they don’t make it their mission to give you grief regarding replacement parts or missing parts).
KidKraft Majestic Mansion Dollhouse at Play
The elevator is a popular feature.
The dollhouse has 8 rooms that each have their own character and color scheme. Little girls (and sometimes boys) will have fun decorating the rooms, playing with dolls from room to room and having their Barbie dolls tell their Ken dolls to fix the sink and take out the trash. (I’m not asking you again, Ken!).
The house is pretty big and certainly has room so that when she has friends over to play they can all enjoy playing at the same time. Interactive features like the staircases, elevator and furniture pieces give a blank canvas for all kinds of imaginative play.
The KidKraft Majestic Mansion Dollhouse comes carefully packaged and the assembly instructions are not too hard to follow. It is a well priced set with regards to other similar dollhouses and more green (as in eco-friendly, not jealousy) than some other dollhouses on the market.
Tasteful pastel colors and beautiful design coupled with good attention to detail make this an attractive and entertaining dollhouse. If you want the perfect sized dolls to inhabit the Majestic Mansion, look no further than the KidKraft Doll Family of 7.
